The Immortalization of John Murtha

Enough is Enough! Everyone knows the late Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa)  served 19 terms representing Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives. He is well known for all the 'Pork' he obtained for senseless projects in his state and across the Country. To continue to make him an immortal hero of our Country is crazy.

• The 'King Of Pork' already has an airport named after him. The John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport got so much money in pork for a little used airport.
• The Murtha family has announced the establishment of the John P. Murtha Foundation to honor the legacy of Murtha. The John P. Murtha Center for Public Service will be located on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
• Rep. Bob Brady (D-Pa) is seeking to rename the Philadelphia Naval Business Center in honor of all the money he sent down there to keep the yard operating. The new name would become the "Jack Murtha Business Center."

In May of 2006 Murtha, himself a former Marine,  infuriated Marines across the country when he made the following comments: “There was no firefight,” the Pennsylvania Democrat said at the time. “There was no [improvised explosive device] that killed those innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them. And they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” Those remarks were made following an incident in Haditha, Irag.

• One of former Navy Secretary Donald Winter's last actions before resigning was to bestow the Navy's highest honor to a non-employee. The Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award was bestowed upon Rep. Murtha on March 5. 2009. Much to the dismay of many veterans groups and active duty troops.
• US Navy names a warship after the late Congressman John Murtha, despite his outspoken remarks about the United States Marines. Ironically this new vessel will bare his name and many Marines will be stationed aboard the ship. I wonder if they will feel it a priveledge?
• Once again the Navy is honoring the the "King of Pork", and outrage is spreading rampantly across the Internet. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who technically is the only person in the government with the power to name U.S. warships has officially named an amphibious transport dock, with the hull number 26 the John P. Murtha. The rest of San Antonio fleet have been named for Americans cities. This will be the first in the fleet named after a person.

According to the NavyTimes.com, Comments being made on Facebook include "slap in the face"; "betrayed the brotherhood" the ship should have been named "a nice, stinky garbage scow" if the Navy wanted to honor Murtha. I tried to find the Facebook group "People Against Naming A Navy Ship USS Murtha", but could not locate it.

It is speculated that Nancy Pelosi had something to do with this honor being bestowed upon Murtha's legacy.
Murtha — “our dear Jack,” as Pelosi referred to him — deserved the honor as a tireless advocate for troops generally and Marines in particular, she said.

I wonder how much extra Pork the Navy received that other branches of the Military did not receive? When do we finally stop immortalizing a man who served as a US Representative for 38 years and threw away so much of our money on senseless projects? Let's move on, I am sure our Country and Navy can find more deserving, honest and influential heroes to bestow their high honors on.

Conservative Leaders Oath To Texans

Citizens of this country are very scared and worried about the turn our administration is taking. Mid term elections are rapidly approaching and voters are uncertain about who to vote for.
With all the deceit, distrust and unrest in this Country many people do not know who to trust on the political scene. Irregardless, of how they voted in the past it is the future vote that will bring this Country out of the horrible mess it is in.

There is so much unrest in both parties, voters aren't wanting to believe either side. The Tea Party movement has awoken many people to the dangers of voting strictly a one party ticket. The movement is not trying to split the Republican party and start a new one. Many Republicans and Democrats have behaved in un-Constitutional ways. Unfortunately there are too many of them who have forgotten the oath of office they took when being sworn in as Representatives and Senators:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."

Those words are not terribly hard to say, but do they mean it when they take that oath?  Recently it is apparent not many of them do. We have too many members of Congress who have been there for an eternity who think they own this country and what they want is all that matters. To heck with the Constitution, we will do it our way.

The highly Conservative Republican state of Texas has come up with an organization to help fellow Texans maintain and regain their trust. Realizing the great unrest in the citizens, State Senator Dan Patrick has created a whole new concept for state officials. One that I wish could spread through out this Great Country in all levels of government. All parties should adopt the attitude that is spreading like a twister through Texas' Conservative Republican Party. Members in the organization take an oath to uphold 5 core principles. These principles are not new and are well known to We The People, and contain the values in government we believe in.

This is a grass root movement, all but 9 of the Texas State Legislature members and most Republican candidates have taken this oath. The Congressmen and women who do not want to commit to "Our Contract with Texas" may find themselves without a job in the near future.

Let's spread the word and get every other State and the Congress of the United States to establish the same allegiance to the people as the members of ICROT have. Way to go Texas, once again we are leading the way and showing us there is a chance for "Change We Can Believe In."

Why Should Immigrants Be Eligible For Welfare?

There are currently 11 million illegal aliens residing in the US.  State governments spend an estimated 11 to 22 billion dollars supporting immigrants. It is very disturbing that immigrants make up 11% of our population, even more upsetting is they are 20% of the poor population. When most immigrants come to this country, they are coming from a poor country to increase the quality of their lives. Many of the immigrants are much poorer than our native citizens. Unfortunately these immigrants are often not qualified or do not want to work. Increasing our impovershed population.
18% of immigrant households are below the poverty level, while only 11% of native households are below the poverty level. More immigrant households (21%) take advantage of our welfare system than do our native households (15%). That is 43% higher.

Immigrants coming here legally must pass a public charge test. They must have a US sponsor who pledge their income to support them. Before receiving an immigration visa the potential immigrant is supposed to be evaluated by American Consular Officers, to determine if he or she will become a public charge. If deemed to become a public charge their visa is denied. The sponsor must have an income only 25% higher than the poverty level. (The government defines poverty as an annual income of $22,025 for a family of four, $17,163 for a family of three and $14,051 for a family of two.)



Unbelievably refugees, asylees and all amnestied illegal aliens are exempt from the public charge requirement. Guess what? We The People will be become their sponsors, since Congress decided we will pick up their support bill. (Immigration and Nationality Act § 237A(5).)
Go figure, as an example a sponsor has an income of 200% above the poverty level, he is considered not legally poor. Then his income is split with the immigrant now they each are at the 100% poverty level. Eligibility for some welfare programs kicks in before the 125% level so immigrants and sponsors can be eligible for welfare.
Since food stamps, pre-natal care, nutrition programs, housing assistance, energy assistance, job training programs, child care services, free or discounted school lunch, public shelters, health clinics, Medicaid and cash welfare programs that are not the family's sole source of income are not considered under the public charge test.
Immigrants here legally cannot receive federal means-tested public benefits for 5 years, furthermore they cannot receive SSI or food stamps until they obtain citizenship.
Regardless of their immigration status, immigrants are eligible for school breakfast and lunch programs. The can receive immunizations, emergency medical care, disaster relief and other assistance that is deemed necessary to protect life and safety as identified by the attorney general.

Illegal immigrants cannot obtain any of the following federal public benefits: grants, contracts,licenses, loans, retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, secondary education, food assistance and unemployment. Unless a state law is enacted they are barred from providing state or locally funded benefits to illegal immigrants.

It is very disturbing that immigrants make up 11% of our population, even more upsetting is they are 20% of the poor population.
It's obvious we need to do something to slow down the immigration rate. The illegals are coming across the Mexico Border at a rapid pace. Living in West Texas I have had the opportunity to know a few illegals. One I can honestly say is married to an American and has 2 children born here. He received 17 DWI's over the years, has been deported back to Mexico on numerous occasions, only to return a few months later illegally. Finally he was put in prison for 2 years. On his release he was deported again. He is now back with a legal green card. Look at the expense this one man has incurred on us and we welcome him back legally.

Instead of worrying about putting our citizens back to work, the Obama administration issued 1,130,818 green cards. Mexico citizens were issued 164,920 green cards. We see these workers coming over here, many of them can not speak English, therefore companies have to hire translators. The jobs over a million foreigners obtained could have been given to legal, Native Americans. Does Obama not know the unemployment rate is nearing the 10% mark and the under-employed (Peoply who have quit looking for work) is around 17%.

It is apparent this administration is doing nothing to decrease the unemployment rate. Some members in Congress are suggesting proposals that will only make matters worse for this Country. Believe it or not they think we should increase legal immigrants eligibility for benefits! An amnesty act is likely to be forced on us this year. According to the CBO an estimated $2.24 billion would be added if they are made eligible for Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance Program.
It is my belief we have to discontinue being so liberal with the immigrants coming into this Country. We are bringing people in legally, and they know we will take care of them. We have to close our doors to some of these people. If they come here and can not make a living for themselves and their families they should be deported. Our laws must be revised to exclude them from becoming a burden.

Lawmakers are saying Don't Know - Don't Care

In these days when we are facing very serious problems with Big Government, it is becomming apparent that our great leaders do not know or care about the Constitution of the United States of America. Our elected officials on both sides are forgetting the values for which they were elected. Following are just a few recent examples about the lack of knowledge or disrespect for our Constitution.

Article 1, Section 1 of our Constitution states "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives." I agree some citizens may not know this answer off the top of their head, listen to what long time Representative of New Jersey, Frank LoBiondo (R)  had to say at a local town hall. He thinks it is "The Right To Free Speech." Everyone knows that is the First Amendment to the Constitution. Watch as a True Patriot questions him. You will not believe the Representatives response.

"I don't worry about the Constitution on this to be honest," are the words used by US Rep. Phil Hare (D-Ill). when confronted by a constituent on the Constituitionality of Obamacare. He went on to say, "I believe it says we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." He was quickly informed his statement is in the Declaration of Independence. Hare responded with "Doesn't matter to me. Either one." Later when confronted with the same question all he could say was "I don't know. I don't know."  Video

At a Tea Party rally in Nov of 2009 Rep. John Boehner (R-Oh), House Minority Leader, addressed the crowd holding his pocket copy of the Constitution. As he was pledging to "stand here with our Founding Fathers, who wrote in the pre-amble: 'We hold these truths to be self evident ..." Those words are the opening lines of the Declaration of Independence, not the Preamble to the Constitution.  Video

Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich) was recently confronted by CNSNews with the following, “The individual mandate in the bill requires individuals to purchase health insurance. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has said that never before in the history of the United States has the federal government required any one to purchase any goods or service. What part of the Constitution do you think gives Congress the authority to mandate individuals to purchase health insurance?”

Conyers replied “Under several clauses, the good and welfare clause and a couple others. All the scholars, the constitutional scholars that I know -- I’m chairman of the Judiciary committee, as you know -- they all say that there’s nothing unconstitutional in this bill and if there were, I would have tried to correct it if I thought there were.”
The word "good" only appears once in the Constitution, in Article 3, Section 1, which deals with the Judicial Branch, not the powers of Congress.

In December Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was asked "..where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?" A very agitated Pelosi only responded with "Are you serious? Are you serious?" She then went on to answer another question.

The leaders should know what our Constitution says and the meaning of it, it is their job. It is very sad to think we elect officials to uphold our Constitution and We The People Know more about it than they do. As there is so much discrepency about this subject I feel all elected officials should be given a Constitutional Knowledge test at least once a year. This may sound childish but if they do not know and uphold the Constitution of our country we will continue down the road to Socialism.

Very soon we will no longer have the Freedoms we enjoy now, there will be no Constitution to uphold, we will be under the jurisdition of the Progressive Comunists. Attend town hall meetings with candidates for office, question them about the Constitution and their beliefs. If they can't or won't answer your questions, let everyone know about it. If they answer wrong, stand up and tell them and the world about it,  just as the man in the first example did.
These leaders showed complete lack of disrespect and concern for the Constitution and the Citizens of the United States of America.

Showdown In Searchlight

Radical Richard, Tea Party Deanie, Freedom Fighter and Laurence arrived at the Searchlight location at 4 am on the 27th. We expected to be first in line when the gates opened at 6AM. Surprisingly, the gate was open so we drove around in the dark looking for a place to park the RFA Motor Coach. There were already at least 300 RV’s, hundreds of cars, tents and even big semi trucks. Finally we were able to locate someone to tell us where to park. What a great job all the security volunteers did. They worked around the clock directing traffic.

Finally daylight rolled around. Although the rally did not begin until high noon eager Patriots began to awaken and the festivities were beginning. Despite the cold, windy, dusty day many took chairs, signs, blankets and coffee to the stage area hoping to get the best seats in the house. Never expecting this event to be as big as it was, we didn’t follow the others.As the endless line of cars, rvs, buses, semis, motorcycles and pedestrians entering the location, it soon became apparent the expected 1,500 to 2,000 participants were going to reach the 10,000 plus mark. Additional porta-potties and dumpsters were brought in.

I visited with many participants throughout the day. The excitement was contagious; these true Patriots were there to share their feelings and concerns about the direction our Country is headed. There were disgruntled Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Conservatives and Independents who were there to let the world know they are not happy with this Administration’s agenda. Although the weather was miserable, I never heard one complaint about the wind, blowing dust, cold or the long walks many people had to make. People were turned away at the gate no more vehicles could get in. One lady said she parked 3 miles down the road and walked in. Many people endured traffic lines for 2 hours or longer.

After Sarah Palin’s awesome speech people began leaving, the news said they left because they only came to hear Sarah. I spoke to many of those early departures and was told they were heading for Henderson to take in the Vegas rally where Ann Coulter would be speaking that afternoon. As those people were leaving, others were still pouring in, although Sarah was long gone.

9 to 14 thousand people were present according to members of the Press Corps, but the security and crowd control firm on the scene estimated 30,000 plus in attendance. CNN’s Fredericka Whitfield wasn’t quite prepared to give the rally credit it was due as far as participation. She estimated that hundreds, but if not, “at least dozens of people” were in attendance. I don’t think she had her eyes open, there were more than that many at noon the day before!

My general observation was people are very disgruntled, mad and afraid of the direction this government is taking us. The majority of the attendees are first timers on the political scene and vow they will continue to support this movement and stay involved in politics. They see their children owing more money than they can ever earn. They are mad at all the wasteful money going out of Washington DC. We cannot afford any more taxes, especially when the Administration is doing nothing to create money. Jobs are not being created. We don’t need to be spending money for future jobs that will not begin for years to come we need the jobs now! Health care is a joke to everyone. No one thinks health care as Obama has signed into law will work. They believe we won’t get the care we are getting now and we can’t afford it. How can we pay for something when we can barely make ends meet? Big Government is stealing our Freedom from us. We don’t want more government; we want honest government leaders who will work with and for We The People.

Most of all the warm feeling of true Patriotism that we all shared was almost beyond belief. People openly prayed. All from within their hearts sang our National Anthem and other Patriotic songs. Our Flag of the United States of America was proudly honored with the wonderful words of the Pledge of Allegiance. One man was so over-whelmed with the Patriotism shared by all he was nearly in tears. People were hugging complete strangers, vowing we will regain our Country and our Constitution. We will not go away, we will not let our Country’s true values go down the wrong way again. We will stay involved with the actions of our elected leaders. We will vote out all the leaders who are dishonest and take bribes for their votes.

I managed to get close enough to Joe The Plumber to get a hug and had him sign the sleeve on my shirt. I couldn’t even get near Sarah, but then she may not have hugged me.

Together we will win.

Justice or Un-justice

Every day we are seeing more groups and organizations springing to life to inform the public about the direction this administration is taking us. Most common are the Tea Parties which get a lot slander from the Democrats. As an active Tea Party Participant I can say we do not deserve what the mainstream media and this Administration is throwing at us. I have never seen a disruption of any violence. The Tea Parties are making a difference and activating people all across the country to participate.

Making news these days is Virginia Thomas who is starting a new organization, Liberty Central Inc. a non-profit lobbying group. Her website will be designed to provide an online community for visitors to preserve freedom and reaffirm the core founding principles. The Tea Party linked organization will issue score cards for Congress members.

Thomas, said at a recent panel discussion at the Conservative Political Action Conference, "I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you." People across the country are becoming energized because of this President's policies.
"I adore all the new citizen patriots who are rising up across this country." Thomas went on to say, "I have felt called to the front lines with you, with my fellow citizens to preserve what made America great."

So what makes this so unusual? She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The Supreme court portrays the appearance of non-partisanship, and is usually not involved in the daily political fiascos. (Although I do not see how they can not be.) Justice Thomas does not attend the State of the Union Addresses because they are "so partisan", as he stated recently in Fl.

Will this cause another conflict between the two parties?

I am sure the Progressives will try to find a conflict of interest and attempt to remove Justice Thomas, noted to be a reliable conservative since his appointment in 1991. He was nominated by President George HW Bush.

According to the LA Times, Experts say Virginia Thomas' work doesn't violate ethical rules for judges. But Liberty Central could give rise to conflicts of interest for her husband, they said, as it tests the norms for judicial spouses.

"We expect the justice to make decisions uninfluenced by the political or legal preferences of his or her spouse," said New York University law professor Stephen Gillers, an expert on legal ethics.
Under judicial rules, judges must curb political activity, but a spouse is free to engage.
The judicial code of conduct does require judges to separate themselves from their spouses political activities.

Law professor Gillers said that Justice Thomas, too, should be on alert for possible conflicts, particularly those involving donors to his wife's nonprofit.
"There is opportunity for mischief if a company with a case before the court, or which it wants the court to accept, makes a substantial contribution to Liberty Central in the interim," he said.

Justice Thomas would be required to be aware of such contributions, Gillers said, adding that he believes Thomas should then disclose those facts and allow parties in the case to argue for recusal. But it would be up to Justice Thomas to decide whether to recuse himself.

She was working for the Heritage Foundation recruiting staff for the possible GW Bush administration in 2000, while at the same time her husband Justice Thomas was hearing the case that would determine Bush's Presidency.

At that time when questioned about a conflict of interest between the two Virginia (Ginni) Thomas responded, "We have our separate professional lives.

Virtual Border Watch

Unfortunately this administration is not doing enough to protect our borders. Texas has done something on it's own to help protect our Country from powerful and ruthless Mexican crime cartels and violent transnational gangs. They have strategically placed day/night surveillance cameras along the Mexico - Texas border that are constantly streaming the known areas of illegal entry. The cameras are moved to different locations as traffic decreases or increases in another are.

Gov Rick provided $2 million to the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition in an effort to curtail illegal entry into the State of Texas. These illegals soon find their way to other states, therefore this is a concern to the whole Country.

Local law enforcement agencies worked with the State of Texas to conduct a four week test run of this new Virtual Border Fence to assess the video camera capabilities and public interest in reporting suspicious activities observed over the Internet. In four short weeks The Virtual Sheriff's Deputies and 21 cameras had the following results: over 27,940,119 hits and 2,780 reports of suspicious activity.

"Leveraging advanced technology is a key part of our state-led approach to making our border stronger and our nation safer, and I am pleased with and will continue to support the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition commitment to seeing this virtual border watch concept fully realized," said Gov. Perry. "Under this innovative program and the watchful eye of law enforcement and citizens, those criminals, predators and terrorists looking to exploit our border with Mexico or do harm in our communities will lose their greatest strategic asset: the cloak of secrecy."
